Creative Commons Qatar is the Qatar affiliate of Creative Commons, a non-profit organization committed to realizing the full potential of the Internet. Creative Commons develops, supports, and stewards legal and technical tools that maximizes digital creativity, sharing, and innovation.
Creative Commons Qatar will work to engage the local community in using Creative Commons principles and licenses in their creative works, with the goal of growing an environment in Qatar that embraces openness, sharing and collaboration, leading to greater innovation and hopefully spurring more Arab-originated content. Creative Commons can be applied to almost any “creative” field, including music, science, technology, art, government and medicine.
ictQATAR signed a memorandum of understanding with Creative Commons to bring an official affiliate to Qatar. ictQATAR will lead the affiliate initially and will engage organizations and individuals in the efforts to build a vibrant Creative Commons community in Qatar.
