The holy month of Ramadan embodies the true meaning of sharing and collaboration. In this spirit, the CC Qatar community gathered to share Iftar at K108, a restaurant in the Old Al Ghanim area of Doha that contributes all the proceeds to the Kamal Foundation that further re-distributes proceeds to charitable causes such as underprivileged children’s education.
Guests, great friends, and the CC community members savored the dazzle of candles, the friendly hosts, each other’s company, and enough delicious food to make any spirit bright. Chef Hugo’s innovative cuisine with dishes like ‘beef mignon with pomme puree and black pepper juice’ inspired a conversation about innovation and creativity and how each one of us can contribute. Guests were asked to share what and who inspires them, and the outcome was crafted into a collaborative art project that starred a range of expected and unexpected answers – the silence of the dessert, rain, kindness and, above all, people.
CC Qatar joined other Creative Commons affiliates in the region, including Morocco, Lebanon and Tunis that are also hosting Iftar dinners. This celebration is one of the many ways CC Qatar carries out its mission to help local communities realize the full potential of the Internet through facilitating access to research, education, and culture.
